Presented by Roger Sprock and Samantha Lee Hydroelectric Power

Why we picked hydroelectric power Seemed consistent  Low effort to maintain  Low cost and environmental impact in our situation Relatively safe

Chart alternative Criteria Baseline hydro geothermal wind biofuel Totals Rank 1 cost − + 3 2 safety  reliabilty 4 people 5 envoirmental impact -3 9 6 7

How hydroelectric power works MOVING WATER MOVES INTO A TURBINE WHICH CAPTURES THE ENERGY AND CHANGES THAT INTO MECHANICAL ENERGY WHICH THEN GOES THROUGH THE GENERATOR WHICH CHANGES INTO ELECTRICAL ENERGY MOVING WATER MOVES INTO A TURBINE WHICH CAPTURES THE ENERGY AND CHANGES THAT INTO MECHANICAL ENERGY WHICH THEN GOES THROUGH THE GENERATOR WHICH CHANGES INTO ELECTRICAL ENERGY

Why it's better than solar? Hydropower Solar power With a source to draw from, can constantly be in use Can be on small, and on personal power grid, with no reservoir/little environmental impact Limited use (weather and night) Small scale, slap a panel on the roof and be done with it

Where it's going to be?

Why that is a suitable location? It’s a pre-existing reservoir and dam, might as well be put to use No more additional displacement of residents or major changing of landscape

Pro and Cons Pros Cons Fuel is not burned Water is provided by Earth Reducing greenhouse gasses Renewable After built Low operation Low cost Costs a lot to build Fish entrainment or passage restrictions Displacement of local population Reservoirs can change local Enviromint  Large dams are expensive to assemble This is better than solar energy because its more reliably, with reservoirs it can be in constant use. And it can be used on a small scale as long as there is a water source, building revisors isn't necessary.
