Important dates He was born in 1643, 4th January (Lincolnshire, England). His book (Mathematical Principes of Natural Philosophy), first published in 1687. In 1665, he discovered the generalished binomial theorem and began to develop a mathematical theory that later became calculus. In 1666 he discovered the force or gravity. He was appointed Lucasian Professor of Mathematics in 1669. From 1670 to 1672, Newton lectured on optics. He died in 1727, 20th March.

He lived and worked in England He lived and worked in England. Newton was an English mathematician, astronomer, theologian and physicist. Linkolnshir, England

His family He was born in a family of farmers who owned land and cattle, and were therefore quiet rich. Newton was born prematurely, so they thought he would not live long. His parents were called: mum Hannah Ayscough and dad Isaak Newton, too. Isaak Newton died 3 months before his son was born. When he was 3 years old, his mother remarried and went to live with her new husband. Isaak was only child. His mum had 3 kids with second husband.

Field of study Newton began his schooling in the village school that was later sent to the Royal School in Grantham, where he became the best student of the school. In June 1661, he was admitted to Trinity Collage, Cambridge. Royal School in Grantham

Fun facts Epitaph on the scientist’s monument Let congratulate ourselves that death is such a joy and so much of mankind in the world was. He dealt with the interpretation of the Bible. Newton and Robert Hooke were enemies. He had very bizarre behavior. He was born 3 months before the term. He hated his stepfather.

Contributions Mathematical research: he discovered a new formula for number π. Optics: From 1670 to 1672 he lectured on optics. During this period he investigated the refraction of light. Mechanics and gravitation : he established laws of gravity and laws of motion.
