EXECUTIVE SPONSORSHIP STRATEGY What is an Executive Sponsorship Strategy? An Executive Sponsorship Strategy is used to formalise the sponsor’s role in visibly and actively leading the change.   Why use an Executive Sponsorship Strategy? The Executive Sponsorship Strategy helps to illustrate the formal role of the sponsor and provides guidance to the sponsor on the necessary sponsor activities required to create sponsorship visibility and support. . How do you build an Executive Sponsorship Strategy? An Executive Sponsorship Strategy is built in collaboration with the sponsor and covers several aspects related to the role of the sponsor. Steps for building an Executive Sponsorship Strategy: Work with the sponsor to define the vision or purpose statement for the change. Agree on and document the key activities, objectives, format, frequency, artefacts and targeted stakeholders that will be used for: Sponsor visibility Alignment Championing the change Escalation support Communication Decision making Meet with the sponsor regularly to discuss and agree on progress and any changes required to further improve sponsor visibility and support.

Executive Sponsorship Strategy Purpose: To formalise the high level executive sponsorship and engagement strategy. To help illustrate the formal role to be fulfilled by the sponsor by providing guidance around the required activities to be fulfilled.
