Presentation transcript:

Warm Up Tuesday, February 21st What did you learn (about yourself as a writer, etc.) from last week’s reflection and goal setting activity? Think about the topic ideas you’ve chosen for your essay. For today’s task, you need to select an idea. Take a few minutes, and jot something down for your warm up. While it doesn’t have to be exactly the topic for your essay, you should be narrowing down your idea. The topic should: Contain an idea/problem (related to your senior project) that has more than one perspective The essay will, ideally, present these multiple perspectives right away (i.e., within the thesis statement itself). You should NOT take a position (then it’s an argumentative essay), NOR should you focus solely on providing information toward explanation of one idea (then it’s an expository essay).

Learning Targets: To narrow down/refine your research topic. To locate and secure at least THREE solid sources toward your research essay. To use resources such as EasyBib and annotation techniques to create a proper, MLA-style Annotated Bibliography.

Assignment – SRP Homework II Although this is technically a homework assignment, we are starting our work on this piece today so that I can guide the activity. Please be sure to gather ONLY USEFUL SOURCES. Do NOT see this assignment as one where you’re simply jumping through hoops to complete a task that your teacher asked of you (I will check your sources, and I will be able to tell). Rather, see it as an opportunity to conduct potentially useful research in a controlled setting. Since three of your sources must by library sources, focus on finding AT LEAST three online sources.

Homework Complete today’s assignment by next Tuesday, 1/19.
