GUR The General University Requirements (GUR) embody Western's conviction that the breadth provided by our liberal arts and sciences curriculum is important for informed and effective participation in contemporary life. As such, Western students devote a significant portion of their study to courses in communication and critical analysis, humanities, social science, natural science, mathematics, and comparative, gender and multicultural studies, in addition to completing a formal major in an academic or professional field. In this class you will learn to read the face of the earth as you would read a book. Things are not randomly ordered – there is purpose/process behind the patterns, that is what we will explore.
