Environmental and Water Resources Engineering Seminar Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering George Wells Assistant Professor, Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering, Northwestern University “The Nitrogen Challenge: New Microbial Players, Processes, and Paradigms in the Quest for Sustainable Nutrient Pollution Prevention” Friday, February 16, 2018, 3:00 PM 1670 Beyster, University of Michigan McCollum/Corcoran Professor of Chemical Engineering and Environmental Science and Engineering Caltech, Pasadena, CA Prof. Wells’ work is on novel bioprocesses for low energy or energy positive N removal from wastewater. His group is exploring to leverage new understanding of metabolic versatility of polyphosphate accumulating organisms to combine with P removal and recovery as a fertilizer.
