What is happening in Darlington?

Working in partnership – RSGB NE 12 North East local authorities jointly funding a programme in conjunction with the Police and Crime Commissioners covering Road Safety Education and publicity. The 2017/18 operating budget was £50k and included hosting of the website, management of social media, press releases, design of resources, media engagement, video, contact and management of the human interest stories and fielding all media enquiries. Typically, North East local authorities score highly on public satisfaction for Road Safety.

Working in partnership – Other Agencies Durham and Darlington Road Safety Partnership Representatives from local authorities, fire service, police, health, Highways England etc Integrated and targeted approach to road safety utilising data analysis from the North East Road Safety analyst at Gateshead Council Joint initiatives – Road Safety Carousel, Community Speed Watch, Wise Drive etc.

Road Safety in Darlington Relatively small, compact town. Predominantly urban population, rural hinterland Sustainable Travel Demonstration Town and Cycle Demonstration Town Comparatively high levels of active travel to school Casualty levels lowest on record but child casualty rates higher than average.

What we do….. Pedestrian training offered to all KS1 pupils Bikeability L1/2 offered to all year 5 / 6 pupils Bikeability L3 and Bikeability Plus Road safety education School crossing patrols Lets Go Tees Valley campaigns
