UNDERWATER BIRTH Giving birth underwater Put mother in water after 5cm dilated

WHY GIVE BIRTH UNDERWATER? Comfort Anxiety reduction Increase mothers energy Lowers blood pressure Help mother relax Easier on newborn Shorter labor Less likely to need an episiotomy or tear buoyancy lessens her body weight allows free movement & new positioning more efficient contractions & better blood circulation resulting in better oxygenation of the uterine muscles, less pain for the mother, and more oxygen for the baby.
