Observation vs. Inference An observation is anything that you observe and KNOW to be true. If you make an observation, it is a fact. An observation cannot be argued. An inference is a reasonable guess that you make based on observations. An inference cannot be proven to be true, but makes sense in the situation. Observation vs. Inference
