69% Of Managers Are Uncomfortable Communicating With Employees WITC Leadership Development Degree Program

Despite the importance of listening, fewer than 2% of us have had formal listening training according to the International Listening Association. Among the tiny fraction of the population with formal listening training, the majority have been exposed to active listening frameworks; while nodding, smiling, asking questions, mirroring and paraphrasing are all good tactics to improve the quality of the conversation, arguably the most important listening skill is simply being present. Five Things that Go up when we listen.... 1. Engagement. Verbosity encourages disengagement. The next time you complain about disengagement, examine your listening. 2. Energy. Think of a time when a leader really listened to you. I bet you were energized. Invite people to talk if you want to increase their energy. 3. Boldness. People who feel they matter act with boldness. You make people feel they matter by listening to them. 4. Connection. Listening gives birth to connection. 5. Commitment. People who don’t feel heard resist. People who don’t agree, but feel listened to, will commit. https://leaderonomics.com/leadership/five-things-go-leaders-listen WITC Leadership Development Degree Program

Listening leadership “Employee engagement is about listening to people and understanding what is appropriate to engage them.”  Listening needs to be done in an authentic manner, which means business leaders need to do more than simply issue an annual staff survey that quizzes the workforce about their levels of engagement and satisfaction with their role and organization. Listening managers can become agents of employee engagement, so long as they are allowed to craft their own approach to developing and engaging staff.  https://www.raconteur.net/business/listening-boss-can-motivate-and-win-loyalty WITC Leadership Development Degree Program
