THE RENAISSANCE

WHAT WAS IT? It was the rebirth of culture & learning in Western Europe from 1300 to 1600. It’s considered the beginning of modern thought in Western Europe.

CHANGES IN ART Art was influenced by the styles of Ancient Greece & Rome. Art became more realistic. Art was both secular (non-religious) as well as religious. Writers wrote in their native language instead of just Latin.

HUMANISM A movement that focused on human potential & achievements.

THE PRINTING PRESS Perfected in 1440 Made it possible to produce more books, quicker, & cheaper. Helped spread new ideas & sparked a desire for learning.
