PEDAL POWER WATER BIKE A water filter system, which will benefit millions worldwide The pedal power water bike is capable of delivering clean microbiologically safeguarded water at 14 litres per minute.

PEDAL POWER WATER BIKE

This unique innovative design has been invented and developed for small communities with no electricity or …

as a first response unit in the aftermath of civil emergencies – flooding, earthquakes etc.

PEDAL POWER WATER BIKE CAPACITY Capacity of 14 litres of water per minute (at 20°C)with easy effort. This brilliant device can easily sustain 3000 peoples needs in an emergency – providing clean purified fresh-tasting water.

PROJECTS FOR AID GROUPS Ideal set up in a remote static village community situation – it is capable of sustaining the needs of 1000 to 1500 people at 5 litres per person per day.

PERFORMANCE OF THE PEDAL POWER The PEDAL POWER is designed to deliver clean microbiologically safeguarded water. This unique water treatment system utilising the combination of technologies ensures potable water quality. The Dow Ultra Filtration Membrane will have an expected life of 5 years providing it is maintained correctly. The UF Membrane can be back washed utilising the treated stored water by switching a series of valves to allow it to be rinsed clear of accumulated particles. A venturi is incorporated into the design to introduce air into the passing water to aid the process.

OPERATION The PEDAL POWER UF unit is capable of drawing water through the perforated metal intake on a length of flexible hose, from 4 metres deep – a creek, river, shallow well or lake. A gear pump modified by WWW is connected by a toothed belt to the heavy flywheel that has the pedal attached, for the maximum kinetic energy. A 10 year old child can easily pedal to filter their familys daily water requirements

TECHOLOGY The revolutionary water treatment system is comprised of 2 separate filtration processes; The water to be treated from any river, lake, creek or dam, can be drawn with the suction line from up to 4 vertical metres to the Water Bike. 1. Sediment Reduction. The water then flows through the control valve, fitted into the top of the blue fibreglass reinforced plastic tank, down through an American all- natural environmentally safe, granular filter media with a large surface area and micro porous structure. The angularity of the particles, the rough surface and porosity provide a high surface area which is over 100 times greater than silica sand. It is a highly efficient filter to reduce dirt, silt, organic material and suspended matter from the passing water down to between 3 and 5 micron - approximately eight times finer than what is visible to the naked eye (40 micron)

OUTSIDE-IN FLOW CONFIGURATION 2.Ultra Filtration Purification. Ultra Filtration (UF) is able to achieve up to 99.9% removal of bacteria and most viruses. With such high filtration efficiency UF is an excellent barrier for drinking water applications. The UF modules are made from a bundle of high strength long hollow membrane tubes inside the white chamber. Outside-in flow configuration allows extended use at high flux with low quality feed sources. Dow UF membranes outside-in flow configuration are less susceptible to plugging which drastically reduces cleaning frequencies, energy consumption and operating costs. The nominal pore diameter of 0.03micron removes bacteria, viruses and particulates.

Dow Ultra Filtration Advantages and Certification of Performance Dow UF modules utilise asymmetric hollow fibre membranes with pore size distribution that enables effective removal of bacteria, most viruses, colloids and silt. With the membranes uniform pore size and outside-in flow configuration, the Dow UF module is capable of maintaining efficient and stable performance. When the trans membrane pressure increases over time, the module can be cleaned through backwash, air-scour and chemical cleans to restore module performance. Dow UF modules have been tested and certified by NSF international under NSF/ANSI Standard 61 ensuring that they are safe for use in drinking water systems. Dow UF is accepted by independent bodies (CADPH LRV and Title 22 and EPA Environmental Technology verification) for its filtration performance in drinking water and water reuse applications.
