Data from the Bikeplus England Shared electric bike programme taught us: New riders, more women, and even spread age demographic Data from Bikeplus England programme

Anecdotal benefits of e-bikes “Best experience I’ve had since being a child it’s like I just started cycling for the first time very enjoyable its awesome” John, Rotherham I felt far more confident on road, than my normal bike, as I had more power, Eastbourne rider

Gender, age & health issues 26% previously struggled to use a regular bike for fitness/health reasons”. New riders, more women, and even spread age demographic Ebikes allow people to cycle with physical issues such as a problem with their knee or back as well as those recovering from serious illnesses.

Are e-bikes cheating? Norwegian Study (2018) concludes physical exertion is spent 95% of time using an e-bike Craig – Rotherham It has taken a while to build up my level of fitness, but now I cycle to and from work and ride at the weekend whilst out doing my shopping. I didn’t cycle before and I wanted to try one before I bought one, I ended up saving £56 per month on bus travel and lost 2 stone in weight “I lost 2 stone in weight” Craig, Rotherham

Improving well being The word heard most in association with ebikes is funs – It is allowing more people to experience fresh air, and the joy of getting about on their own steam.

New trips, reducing car use They also have the potential to allow more trips to be converted from the car as they support hillier, longer journeys or allow more weight to be carried and for the rider to arrive at their destination fresh.
