Bringing the Iron Fist to R2T4 Processing Ann Crabb, Director Northwest Nazarene University

2013/2014 Audit 7 out of 25 R2T4 Calculations were not properly documented, performed or calculated. (28% Error Rate) Zero GPA – Last date of attendance Zero GPA – Return of funds No R2T4 calculation performed Improper return amount calculated

2014/2015 Audit 5 out of 15 R2T4 Calculations were not properly calculated. (33%) Incorrect amounts when calculating institutional charges (Bookstore charges) Not using the correct number of days in the term

2015/2016 Audit 4 out of 30 R2T4 Calculations were not properly calculated (13%) 1 R2T4 finding indicated that the charges used on the R2T4 did not equal the charges to the student. 3 out of the 4 related to dates used in the calculation Some programs taking a Thanksgiving Break and some not taking one.

Fighting Back Began a crusade to standardize Grad and Adult Program calendars (no Thanksgiving break taken in fall 2016) Spring break was standardized for all programs as to dates and length Began educating departments on how dates affect financial aid Last date of attendance vs. official withdrawal date – First victory with the auditors Started attending R2T4 trainings (FSA conference) and fought back using the Federal Regulations Created and then recreated a checklist
