Writing: How it’s done!

Generate Ideas Freewriting Brainstorming Clustering Questioning

Freewriting – Write whatever comes to mind for a short period of time Freewriting – Write whatever comes to mind for a short period of time. Brainstorming – Make a list or words or phrases that pertains to the topic. Popcorn is a tasty treat. There are many flavors that popcorn comes in. There is butter, caramel, and kettle. You can fix popcorn several ways also. It can be popped on the stove, in the microwave, and over a fire. Popcorn tastes even better with a little sprinkle of salt. It is a great snack while you are watching your favorite movie or anytime. Many flavors Popcorn Butter Caramel Kettle Great with chocolate Great snack anytime

Clustering – A visual to generate ideas for a single topic. popcorn How to prepare flavors types history

Questioning – Ask yourself questions to generate ideas for your topic. What kind of corn is used for popcorn? Who invented popcorn? How many different flavors is popcorn made into? What is the best way to fix popcorn?

Organize Your Ideas Narrow down your topic Get rid of ideas you do not need Put your ideas in order

A great way to organize your ideas is to use an outline.

Write your first draft Pay attention and concentrate on the content of your essay

Revise Make sure you have the content you want in your essay. Make sure you do not have any non-essential information in your essay. Make sure you have your content in the correct order.

Proofread/Publish Check for grammatical mistakes. Check for punctuation mistakes. Check for spelling mistakes. Have someone read your essay for you. Write your final draft.
