BACKGROUND INFORMATION What are the causes of the accident? What was the reason? What safeguards are available? How does it happen? LEAD That who, what, when, where, and why of the story. What is the accident called? How many people have died?
Final paragraph: any final information summing up the story CONCLUSION Final paragraph: any final information summing up the story MORE INFORMATION What people should do if affected? What plans are there to combat it in the future? INTERVIEW An interview with the affectee ,with the survivor or victim. Try to incorporate any quotation
WHAT MAKES THE ARTICLE NEWAPAPER-ISH How is the article set out structurally? (think about it’s layout, how paragraphs are used, sentence lengths, etc.). How would you describe the language used in a newspaper? How is it different from the way you would talk/ write to you friend? How is information ordered in a newspaper?
