Stations Expectations You must record all your work for your group Take turns writing Put down the station name/ number Write the questions if you have time Answer all questions at your station You should all be thinking and helping discuss ideas You have 5 minutes in each station When I call time to rotate, you must have moved within 5 seconds to your new seats If you misuse a station or its materials, it will be removed

Animals & Seismic Waves Station Are there any animals that could be “famous” for their seismic waves? Where do you think they would live? Why would they make seismic waves? Check the field guide section for moles. What did you learn? Does it say anything about how they use seismic waves to communicate? (Feel free to follow up at the stump the teacher station)

Water Wave Test Station What would you have to do to make a transverse and longitudinal wave? Drop the rock in the water. Using our vocabulary, describe the waves that are created. Predict what would happen if we dropped two rocks a distance apart into the water. Would the waves combine or knock out each other? Test it. Were you right? Predict what would happen to the floating duck if we used a bigger rock… If we used 2 rocks dropped to the left and right of the duck. Test it. Were you right?
