Tea Committe (annually, some products/country)

Balance of Payments The Central Bank of Hungary (1) CBH – part of the Hungarian official statistical service Share of responsibility of compiling BOP data HCSO – mainly current account (international trade in goods and services) CBH – other accounts of BOP Data collections/transmission – National Data Collection Program Cooperation agreement between HCSO and CBH for other tasks with attached work program updated annually Actual main projects: Cooperation in implementing BPM6 and ESA 2010 requirements Consistent treatment of multinational enterprises (reconciliations, onsite company controls)

Of Services and External Trade Statistics ITGS monthly (first T+ 39, detailed T+ 69), ITSS quarterly (T+ 69) Export, import value, at current prices, by nature of transaction (first), transaction code / country (detailed), Aggregated micro level (company) data – consistency purposes Imports according to BEC nomenclature, quarterly for analysis Through the electronic data exchange system of CBH (EBEAD)

ETS data in National Accounts Dept. National Accounts (HCSO) GDP – Differences from BOP: Frequency: quarterly (flash estimation T+40, detailed T+56) Coverage: also illegal goods, illegal activity, FISIM Partners: EU, Non-EU, EMU Data: deflation (volume data), price indices Unit value indices for SITC 0-4, Enterprise survey for SITC 5-8, Fischer formula SUT: annually, products/nature of transaction/partners (EU, Non-EU) Company data reconciliations Methodological issues

Ministry for National Economy International trade data serve as a basis for making economic policy: Regular monthly data transmission to the ministry (detailed exports/imports commodity/partner country data sets, time series of main product groups by countries) Sharply growing interest on detailed and complex micro-level data: need for linking ETS and other business databases – many ad hoc requests Focus on small and medium-sized enterprises: annual data sets on sme-s export distribution by sector, staff no., and ownership. Eximbank Under the control of the Ministry of National Economy With the aim: to improve the competitiveness of Hungarian exports of products and services By: financing export transactions deemed of importance to the national economic interest ( providing loans and issuance of guarantees backed by the state budget ) For this purpose: measuring and estimation of risks Data needs: structure of Hungarian exports Distribution according to staff categories, ownership, total turnover, export turnover and product Sme-s export by country and product

External trade data in agricultural statistics Annual agricultural balances Annual consolidated plant balances (cereals, oil crops) Animal and animal product balances Food balances (cereals, fruit, vegatables, wine, meat, milk, egg) Imports (supply) , exports (use) quantity, value, calculation of average prices Reconciliations in case of inconsistencies Monthly data transmissions for Eurostat: External trade of live animals, trade of chicks, (species, tons, pcs)

Research Institute of Agricultural Economics (AKI) Supervised by the Ministry of Rural Development Task: contribution to the activities of practical governance and a scientific basis for national agricultural policy Agreement with HCSO: monthly data transmission import/export (value, quantity) data at most detailed product/partner country level, analysis of production and ETS data of agriculture and food industry by linking data from several sources To enable setting and implementing goals in the field of agriculture Consultations: at the time of their annual report to the government, methodology (coverage), estimation of illegal activity (ad hoc)

Relation with other public and private data users (2) Downloads from HCSO website free of charge – many unidentified users press releases: media – feedback by phone and email, interview request, newspaper articles ETS database: most frequently used by governmental bodies, companies, embassies, students – help by phone if needed Number of downloads monitored by HCSO by domains and type of publication 2 ETS data sets are in the top 10 data sets of HCSO database: detailed SITC / country, CN / country data planned to introduce registration in some cases to identify users for better serving their needs

Relation with other public and private data users (3) Central information service provides information on all data formerly issued by either internet or paper-based publications against a service fee if user unable or unwilling to retrieve information from the website regular (contract) and ad-hoc data needs mediates between customers and ETS department if the data request can be satisified only from the internal database of HCSO coordinates complex data needs among several departments central register of received data claims and performed data transmissions
