Olympic Park… London 2012 has been the catalyst for transforming 2.5 square kilometres of land in east London. What was once industrial land has been rapidly transformed over the last few years into green space that both visitors to the Games and local residents can enjoy.
The brand new 400-metre BMX Track is located next to the Velodrome in the north of the Olympic Park. Having made its debut at the Beijing 2008 Games, BMX Cycling is the most recent discipline to have been added to the Olympic programme.
Swimming!!! Designed by internationally acclaimed architect Zaha Hadid, the breathtaking Aquatics Centre is one of the permanent venues specially constructed for London 2012.
Football!!! Home to Championship football club Coventry City, this stadium is one of six venues across the country hosting the London 2012 Olympic Football tournament. Football was introduced as a medal sport at the Paris 1900 Olympic Games.
Boxing!!! The ever-popular men’s Boxing events are joined on the Olympic programme by women’s events for the first time. ExCeL is the largest competition venue at the London 2012 Games. It is made up of different five arenas, each of which will host a different sport at London 2012.
Fencing!!! At the first modern Olympic Games of 1896, the Fencing programme consisted of men’s Foil and Sabre events, with Epée making its debut at Paris 1900. Beach volley Ball!!! Beach Volleyball made its Olympic debut at Atlanta 1996. Since then it has become one of the most popular spectator sports at the Games. Located on the Prime Minister’s doorstep in central London, Horse Guards Parade provides an iconic location for the London 2012 Beach Volleyball competition.

Tennis!!! The Tennis competition at London 2012 will be held on the grass courts of Wimbledon. Home of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club and The Championships – an annual grand slam tennis event – Wimbledon is ideally suited to hosting one of the biggest tennis tournaments the UK has ever seen.
Basketball!!! Men’s Basketball first appeared on the Olympic programme at the Berlin 1936 Games, with the women’s event introduced at Montreal 1976. The new Basketball Arena is one of the largest temporary venues ever built for a Games. The arena will be one of the most heavily-used venues within the Olympic Park, with competition events taking place almost every day.
