How Can I Support My Son/Daughter? Ian Ramsey CE Academy Dayspring Trust “Providing excellent education within a strong Christian community” How Can I Support My Son/Daughter? Routine Encourage them to have everything ready for school the night before Ensure they have set an alarm to get themselves up in plenty of time Encourage them to turn off their electronic devices 30 minutes before going to sleep People aged between 11-16 need 8-10 hours of sleep Sit down together and create a revision timetable. It might seem early but it is useful to help them plan out their time for homework and socialising. Ask for a copy of their timetable to help with this. Consistency and organisation

How Can I Support My Son/Daughter? Ian Ramsey CE Academy Dayspring Trust “Providing excellent education within a strong Christian community” How Can I Support My Son/Daughter? Well-being Don’t place unnecessary pressure on your children to gain certain grades Encourage children to take regular breaks, eat snacks and exercise Help them revise by leaving them space and time to do so Be supportive and help alleviate their worries by talking to them “I can’t do this, I’m going to fail!”: start asking them questions about the topic they are talking about and soon they will realise they know more than they think Insist they finish homework/revision at least half an hour before bed and encourage them to do something else to wind down Healthy diet and exercise
