Grading policies Combination of Standards Based and Traditional 80% Standards Based Assessments Tests, quizzes, projects, tasks, etc. 20% Traditional Grading Classwork, homework, quick checks, etc.

Grading Scale Each standard graded on a 0 – 4 scale 0 = “I have no clue, but I tried.” 1 = “I know the very basics for this standard.” 2 = “I almost have this standard down.” 3 = “I can do this standard with minor mistakes.” 4 = “I can do this standard pretty much perfectly”

What does that look like in the Grade book? Rubric Grade Grade Book 60 1 75 2 86 3 93 4 100 Did Not Complete

Example Grades Standard Rubric Level Grade Adding Integers 4 100 Subtracting Integers 2 86 Multiplying Integers 3 93 Dividing Integers Solving Two-Step Equa. The grade for your standards would be 94.4.  This is 80% of your overall grade. The grade for your activities would be 93.75. This is 20% of your overall grade. Activities Grade Integer Task 10 / 10 Quick Checks 45 / 50 Homework 95 / 100 Your overall grade would be 94.4(.8) + 93.75(.2) = 94.27.

Grading policies Late work will receive a score of no more than 80% of the earned grade. Remediation—If a teacher requests a student for remediation, the student must report to that teacher…It is not optional! Extra Help- before school; 5th period; Tiger Time; by appointment Missing Work—Students will receive a 0 for any assignment that is not turned in within a week following a unit test. Absences—Students should check the website daily, especially if they are absent. It is the student’s responsibility to ask for missed assignments, and they have five days from their return to submit make-up work. Extra Credit—I do not offer extra credit; however, if a student is not happy with his/her grade on a test, he/she may complete remediation activities, assignments, etc. in order to be eligible for a retake. All retakes must be done one week prior to the end of the quarter. Homework—Homework will be reviewed at the beginning of class and graded on a completion basis; however, students should expect random homework checks throughout the quarter. These will be 1-3 questions that mimic homework problems and check for understanding of the skill/concept. Homework checks will be counted in the 20% category of a student’s average.
