Stylistic Devices In literature and writing, a stylistic device is the use of any of a variety of techniques to give an auxiliary meaning, idea, or feeling to the literal or written. Examples Figurative Language - Word Choice Sound Techniques - Sentence Stucture Structure - Symbols Irony - Imagery

Figurative Language Any language that goes beyond the literal meaning of words in order to furnish new effects or fresh insights into an idea or a subject. Examples simile, metaphor, and alliteration.
