Cultural Homogenisation vs Cultural Defence

Debate time Cultural homogenisation – i.e. we are becoming the same because of the globalisation and new technologies. vs Cultural defence – i.e. cultural differences are being maintained and less known cultures are able to spread and become more known.

Lesson 1 - Prep There is a good deal of information in your text book. Everyone has a job to do. Opening speech – 1.30 seconds Arguments for your side Working out the arguments the other side will make and how to counter them. Closing speech – will need altering in the 5 minutes after the last arguments.

Lesson 2 - Debate I will score you on: Teamwork Opening speech Arguments Counter argument Closing speech Speeches and teamwork are out of 5. Arguments are by tally. EVERYONE must contribute.

Homework Detailed notes from textbook. Read and annotate Castells – you have already looked at the abridged version. This is much longer (and a bit harder) and brings together lots of our key ideas.
