Pat-INFORMED Database Patent Information Initiative for Medicines (Pat-INFORMED) Joint IFPMA and WIPO initiative announced at WIPO General Assembly (10/2017). Aims to enhance the reputation of intellectual property as a foundation of global healthcare. Welcomed by WHO, the Gates Foundation, the Medicines Patent Pool and many member states. UCB and more than 20 other companies committed to make global patent information, similar to the US “Orange book”, on medicines available via Pat- INFORMED. Initial database covers granted patents for small molecule products within oncology, hepatitis C, cardiovascular, HIV, diabetes, respiratory therapy areas, and any products on the WHO Essential Medicines List.
