ECHS Informational Meeting September 25, 2018 Montwood High School

Texas Early College High School By blending high school and college coursework, ECHS gives students, particularly historically underserved and at-risk students the opportunity to earn up to two years of college credit (60 hours), tuition-free, while earning a high school diploma. The Texas Education Agency (TEA) launched the initiative to increase the college readiness of students across Texas by providing rigorous instruction and coursework as well as academic and social support. Early College High School provides students with highly personalized attention and encourage lasting relationships with teachers and classmates. The experience creates a college-like culture that encourages students to continue their higher education journey.

If a student enrolls in Dual Credit they are 2x as likely to complete a degree within 6 years

Textbooks No upfront charge for DC books Books must be returned in good condition Book fee will be assessed if book is lost or returned in bad condition If a fee is incurred, no new DC books will be issued until fee is taken care of

Attendance & LOC Student must be in class 90% of the semester No more than 8 absences per sesmester Students with LOC needs to get it cleared before the end of the following semester No student with LOC will be allowed to participate in REC activities or attend Summer School at EPCC

ECHS TSI Bridge Camps ECHS Bridge Camp is Mandatory for all incoming REC students October 1 – October 5, 2018 Location: Montwood High School Time: 8am – 12pm TSI Testing will take place Tuesday & Thursday March 11 – March 15, 2019 Location: Montwood High School  TSI Testing will take place on Thursday, March 14, 2019 June 3 – June 6, 2019 TSI Testing will take place on Thursday, June 6, 2019
