Fashion Styles

Key Terms Style- characteristics that distinguish one particular item of clothing from another.

Retro- Brings back styles of earlier time, is fashionable.

Classics- Certain styles stay in fashion for a long time.

Fad- A fashion that is very popular for only a short time.

Fashion- Particular style that is popular at a given time.

Avant-Garde- Ahead of fashion.

Fashion Cycle Introduction- fashion is born when it’s worn for the first time. Growth- As interest in a fashion builds and people gradually accept it. Maturity- Many people wear a fashion, it reaches the peak of its popularity. The style is produced in large quantities at prices that most consumers can afford. Decline- People tire of a particular style.
