PIE Author’s Purpose= The why an author writes/his or her reason! Persuade Inform Entertain Persuade- The author wants you to do, buy, or believe something. -campaigns -advertisements Inform-The author wants to give you information. Sometimes this is in the form of describing or explaining something. -textbooks -non-fiction stories Entertain-The authors wants to amuse you or for you to enjoy the writing. -plays -fiction stories
