The range of a set of data is the difference between the highest value and the lowest value. Range = highest - lowest

The standard deviation of a set of values is a measure of how much the individual values vary from the mean. Abbreviation for sample standard deviation is s.

A smaller standard deviation indicates that the values in the data set are close to the mean. Larger std dev indicates more variation in the data.

Variance – standard deviation squared – not very common measure of variation.

Round-off Rule Carry one more decimal place than is present in the original set of data.
