Heating Matter Ms. Edwina

Think Look at the person sitting next to you and discuss the word Matter. WHAT IS MATTER? How many states of matter?

Matter Matter is anything around you. Matter is anything that has a mass (weight) and takes up space. There are 3 states of matter; solid, liquid and gas.

What happens when you heat matter? Prepare your mini whiteboards. Watch the following clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAPc6JH85pM

What happens? An ice cube will turn into a puddle of water once it is taken out of the freezer. WHY? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-lbwqzfVbo

Melting Can you think of something else that melts once it is exposed to heat. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lx9cQtJYdmo

Now… Open up your student book on page 44 and see if you can answer the questions given. Prepare your pencils!
