Introductions Name Job title

The case for change continued Over 150,000 adults who have experienced at least 4 adverse childhood experiences (ACE) are: 9 times more likely to be involved in violence 11 times more likely to use heroin/crack 11 times more likely to be incarcerated Strong national and local appetite for developing non-statutory early support for families, supported by growing evidence of impact

What is early help? Hertfordshire’s definition “Early Help means taking action to support a child, young person or their family early in the life of a problem, ideally as soon as it emerges. It can be required at any stage in a child’s life from pre-birth to adulthood, and applies to any problem or need that the family cannot deal with or meet on their own”

The principles “Stronger together” “Can do” approach Thinking differently, delivering services differently Getting it right for families, the first time Working with the whole family Keeping it local, seeking local solutions Empowering, focus on resilience and strengths Flexible and promote personal responsibility

The strategy Provides an overarching framework for all partners to deliver support for families at the earliest point problems emerge Effective services are accessible at the right level and at the right time for every family There is less duplication and fewer gaps in early help and childhood service provision Work with the whole family with a coordinated package of support focused on improving outcomes Service providers work together, share information, and value each other’s skills and expertise

Thank you Any questions?
