Planning Your Annual Cub Scout Program
Timeline May – Have leaders/Committee members identified for September May to August- Leaders/Committee Members have online training complete August- Have Pack calendar and budget for year complete (Will need school district calendar and Council calendar to prevent conflicts) September- Sign ups October – University of Scouting January- Meet with Unit Commissioner for Recharter February- Webelos II visit Troops
Plan for a Quality Program Packs-Map out your Pack and Den programs by August and have a schedule for your Cubs and Parents at the first meeting of the year. Pack must have at least 8 pack meetings in 12 months with one being to review Pack’s program plans and ask for parental involvement.
Retention Make your program FUN! End of Program Survey-what did they like, suggestions for a better program Present a structured and organized program Fully trained leaders

Trained Leadership Have your leadership for the September program in place and trained by May 31 Check with your Unit Commissioner for what training is required Leadership includes Committee Members Online learning at https://my.scouting.org
Camping Packs-Have overnight campouts to prepare Cubs for Summer Camp Camping is the number one reason boys join scouts!
Service Projects Participate in 2-4 (Packs) service projects with one being conservation-oriented Check with churches, city halls, parks, shelters, food pantries
Budget Have your budget in place by August for the new year Have a checking account with two check signers Treasurer should be knowledgeable with Excel spreadsheets
Webelos to Scout Transition Webelos II should be ready to crossover in February at Blue and Gold Ceremony Webelos II should visit local Troops prior to Crossover Den Chiefs are excellent role models for Webelos
Pack and Den Meetings Have all meetings planned and scheduled by August (be sure to look at the school district’s calendar when planning your meeting) Summertime award-June, July and August Pack Committee meets 6-9 times per year
Annual Charter Renewal Make sure in December that all training is up to date especially Youth Protection Training (YPT) Meet with your Unit Commissioner at the beginning of January to go over your charter and your Journey to Excellence results
