Buckinghamshire New University 2 -University. This year 125 years. -Bucks New University (2007) is firmly established as the principal provider of university education in Buckinghamshire. -Some 7,000 students (1,065-postgraduate students) -Design, Media Studies, IT, Engineering and Technology, Business and Management, Airline and Pilot training, Police, Nursing, Music and Events Management, Sports Science, Psychology and Healthcare. -One of the smallest universities in the UK -Ranking (2017) 113 of the 168 universities in the UK -Campuses in High Wycombe, Aylesbury, Uxbridge, Great Missenden.

Buckinghamshire New University Internationalisation -Recruitment of more international students and staff with the aim of naturally generating an international ‘ethos’ in the institution -Carefully-designed professional development courses and an incentive to participate in international courses -Mobility of students under exchange programmes is the key to internationalisation of the curriculum (Example MSc HRE) -Delivery of overseas programmes . We currently deliver programmes in China, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Ghana, Germany. -Internationalisation through content aims to integrate a cultural element into the course content. This can be achieved in quite obvious ways in fields such as international business. -Internationalisation through social events aims to create opportunities for ‘home’ students to mix with international students through organizing events that allow students to mingle

Student mobility-outbound -Numbers of students studying for a full degree abroad is increasing, with students travelling to English-speaking countries or to programmes delivered in English (mostly within the EU). -The International Unit and Erasmus exchange office facilitate the implementation of the international strategy -Outbound students mostly through Erasmus programme -Preferred destinations are Spain, the USA, Australia, Finland and Italy students tend to study in the English.

Academic mobility Academic mobility -BUCKS New University’s staff members participate to Erasmus exchanges within the EU and outside the EU. -Most of the staff members who teach abroad participate to short term mobility programmes for up to one month. -We currently have agreements with universities from USA, Netherlands, France, Italy, Poland, Romania and Ukraine. -We are also involved in joint research programmes where our staff members travel in countries such as Ghana, Sri Lanka, Greece. -Only a small proportion are involved in international mobility programmes.

International programmes 1 International study programmes -Our students and staff both benefit from our many EU Mobility programmes, with nearly 50 Erasmus/International exchanges with partner institutions. -Promote both the student and staff Erasmus mobility schemes, including professional service employees. -BUCKS promotes EU wide academic co-operation, best practice and the delivery of quality teaching and learning throughout  Europe -Develop and support research projects with EU and international partners -Provide all students with an EU or International educational experience which will enhance their employment prospects, boosting their confidence and meet the needs of an increasingly international environment.

International programmes 2 International study programmes -The Erasmus Office (within AQD) publicises all Erasmus opportunities and information internally and externally. This includes participation at Fresher's Fair, Open days and Faculty/Departmental meetings. -BUCKS is committed to a Widening Participation agenda and this includes all the relevant codes of practice with respect to disability, equal opportunities, racial and ethnic equality. -All student exchanges are formally recognised through 'Learning Agreements' which clearly outline the academic requirements and recognition via the ECTS system. -Outgoing students are fully briefed as to what is expected of them on the exchange and are supported before, during and after the exchanges to ensure that they get the most out of the opportunity.

International research and events 1 -BUCKS has nine research centres all of whom are engaged in international cooperation -Centre for excellence for telehealth and assisted living -Institute for Diversity Research, Inclusivity, Communities and Society -Institute of Mental Health -Institute of Professional Policing -Institute for Research in Nursing -Institute for Vocational Learning and Workforce Research -Institute for Sport, Exercise, Recreation and Well Being -Social Work Academy.

International research and events 2 -We are currently involved in 12 EU funded projects within Erasmus + -We are involved in 2 Horizon 2020 research projects in Design and Health. -A total of 14% of submissions in Art and Design were ranked as world leading (ie 4*), -A proportion of 56% submissions for REF were in the category of internationally excellent or world leading (ie 3* and 4* combined)(2008 RAE)
