Over the next year you will work towards EIGHT units Introduction to media processes and technical skills (Documentary) Introduction to design and research skills (Documentary) Introduction to professional practice (looking at the skills of production – Director of photography, editor, art director / Presenter (Scripting, research and interview techniques) lighting and sound / Studio management (how to run and radio / TV studio) Critical and contextual awareness (advertising) Audio Production (Radio Drama and Foley / Radio News broadcasts – studio and location) Visual Production (Music video, Short Film, Documentary / Studio TV production, factual programme) Interactive media (Creating your portfolio ) Media Production project

Deadlines Each assignment will have a deadline These deadlines will be: On the brief On the website On the boards in R301, R335 and R326 Will be text to you (along with a 1 week deadline reminder) There are NO excuses for not submitting any work – ALL work we ask you to do, be that big assignments or small task are ALL part of your course, will ALL be graded and ONE missed piece could result in a fail or a referral even if the rest of your work is to a high standard. Missed deadline will result in a fail grade and you will be referred! If you are referred you will be put on the college disciplinary system

How your work is assessed Units 1 – 7 will be graded as a PASS / FAIL / REERAL – Your feedback sheets will indicate to what level of PASS you are achieving (good or excellent) If you fail to submit on time or with ALL items of work you will fail and your work will be referred. All units must gain a merit or distinction to pass. Unit 8: Final Project will determine your grade for the year. This will be EXTERNALLY graded by the exam board as well as by us ALL work will be marked and then internally verified (marked again by another teacher) before the final grade is given

contact details and much ore is on www.thcvibe.weebly.com Vibe Productions All assignments, class presentations, dates, deadlines, group assignments, equipment hire, trip information, contact details and much ore is on www.thcvibe.weebly.com At the beginning of EVERY lesson you will be required to open this website - I would suggest putting a link to it on your own weebly page Have a look on it now for 5 minutes Check all accounts are set up before moving on

Your work All submitted work must be uploaded to your weebly sites – we do not accept hard copies of work Unless you pay for an upgrade your productions, video blogs, voice blogs and presentations will need To be uploaded to YouTube and then embedded onto your page We will go over you’re your weebly accounts later today and will be asking for your web address If you haven’t created an account you will do so today

Feedback You will be given a link to a google drive account. This link will contain your work and yours only This is where your feedback will be uploaded and each stage of assessment. Please make sure you check this folder on a regular basis and we also mark sporadically throughout the unit and there may be vital information in there for you to improve. This link could also be sent to your parents in order to keep them updated on your progress. This will be at parents discretion however Once feedback is uploaded you will be given a date to when the next round of marking will take place. If this feedback is not there / completed by then it will not get marked again. We will make sure you are on top of all this. Feedback will also be verbal during sessions so make sure you note down what each teacher says.

Social media Please make sure you follow / join our social media sites – LOTS of important information will go up on them

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR ROOMS ARE Please do NOT turn up late for lessons – you may not be allowed in!! Lessons will start on time and all the important information is told at the beginning of each lesson so if you miss this you may not know what to do or miss detailed material.
