“In the Shade” Weekly Newsletter The week of: September 11, 2017 Math Writing This week in Writing we learned: What writing stamina is and how we can build it up. The proper tools writers use-where we can find them in class and how to use them appropriately. What writers write (i.e. letters, recipes, books, notes, blogs etc.) How to write a thank you letter-Ask your child to sing the Letter Song! This week in Math we learned: How to use pictures and number bonds to show 5 as one part. To find a whole and 2 parts. How to add 1 more to a 5-group Represent the same number in different ways using number bonds. Decomposing numbers by using number bonds. Reading Extra Info This week in Reading we: Read Chrysanthemum.and Quick as a Cricket Made text-to-self connections to enjoy and understand the story Practiced Reading Responses Increased our class independent reading stamina. Focused on Comprehension and really understanding the text. Referring back to the text to support thinking. Used Reading Response Journals Please make sure all of the paperwork is completed and turned into me so I can give them to the office! I F&P tested 14 children today!
