Finding ComPort software There are lots of different software for finding comports, but the issue is you may not have it on the computer after a disaster. Windows app Device Manager will allow you to see what comport’s you have. There is a big advantage of using native applications in Windows 7-10 like these… Control Panel, Device Manager, Notepad, Wordpad, Paint, etc.
Finding your COM Port Open Device Manager Open the “Ports (COM & LPT)” tab Plug in your TNC’s USB/or USB to Serial adapter The COM Port that is added is the one for your TNC. Make note of the it (COM?) If you are using a serial cable DB9 to DB25 it most likely will be Com 1 or 2
