ADAPTATION OF RABBIT & KOMODO DRAGON By: 8th Group

RABBIT RABBIT Rabbits are small mammals in the family Leporidae of the order Lagomorpha, found in several parts of the world.

Adaptations of Rabbits Each adaptation, like the teeth, the long ears, and the rapid reproduction rate are an essential survival tool that has kept the rabbit population of the world abundant and safe from predators.

Here are a few important rabbit adaptations Long Ears Eyes

The hind legs of rabbits are long and very strong. Teeth Reproduction

Digestion Coprophagi consumption of  feces

Fur colour While arctic rabbits have a whitish fur colour to camouflage the white background of winter, but in autumn the same colour changes to brown or reddish to mingle with the surroundings. European rabbits have a colour similar to the shades of the ground too.

KOMODO DRAGON The Komodo dragon (Varanus komodoensis), also known as the Komodo monitor, is a large species of lizard found in the Indonesian  islands of Komodo, Rinca, Flores,Gili Motang and Padar.

KOMODO CAN SURVIVE FROM THE ENEMIES IN THE ENVIRONMENT Its claws that scratch and attack Can camouflaged in its natural habitat Can run up to 30 mph in the shorts bursts but most of time conserves energy to maintain its body heat.

KOMODO DRAGON’s ADAPTATION These lizards can reach lengths of 10 feet and weigh up to 300 pounds. They are very aggressive meat eaters and are known to take down animals as big as deers. Their jaws work so hard that the Komodo dragon grows four new sets of teeth per year.

The Komodo dragon has very deadly bacteria present in its saliva at all times. This bacteria is not harmful to the dragon, but if the dragon bites another animal, that animal will die of disease within a week.

The Komodo dragon will then use its giant claws and powerful jaws to rip apart the prey, swallowing chunks of meat whole. Usually, when a Komodo Dragon attacks, it usually ambushes it's prey and lunges at its prey's throat first. One Komodo was recorded consuming 85% of its body weight in one sitting. There are only 5,000 Komodo dragons living in the wild.

Thanks.. Any Questions?
