How will you investigate your chosen Key Questions? L/O: To design a suitable questionnaire Check which 2 factors you will be comparing in your enquiry Suggest: How could you investigate these?

On your field trip . . . . Housing Services Environment ? I will provide a ‘bi-polar’ booklet that will allow you to record suitable information on Triana and Tomares for Housing Services Environment ? Run Down Well maintained Housing Quality It will up to you to design an appropriate questionnaire for your other questions

What makes a good questionnaire? Write down 4 things that you would need to include

What makes a good questionnaire? Should have at least 5-8 questions for each key question Should be closed questions so you can put the results into a graph e.g. -3 to 3 Must be room for lots of people’s answers (You must ask all people you interview all the questions!) Could contain an area for a small quote if you like

One idea of how to do this . . . . Key Question – Is the crime in Triana lower than in Tomares? On a scale of -3 to 3, how safe do you feel going out at night? (-3 – unsafe, +3 – very safe) Triana Answers Tomares Answers -3 -2 -1 1 2 3 -3 -2 -1 1 2 3

Your Task . . . . . Create your own questionnaire Must be handed in next Tuesday with your introduction!

Plenary Practice your Field sketches

Label the arrows to show . . . . . What they are pointing at What this says about the QOL of this area (number 1s are done for you) 1. Lots of cars in the street ____________________________________________________________________ Trees lining the road ____________________________________________________________________ Kerbs in good condition ____________________________________________________________________ Lots of blocks of flats ____________________________________________________________________ Cars parked on street ____________________________________________________________________

Field Trip this Friday What data will you collect? Bi-polar and Tally Chart Booklets on Housing, Services + Environment (will be provided) Your questionnaires – 8 questions for each of your Key Questions (e.g. Culture/Ethnicity/Crime) What else could you do to reach A-A*?? Have you gone the extra mile? Suggestions . . . . Longer interviews (room for a sentence or quote) Land use maps and other mapping Field sketches Photographs
