The U.S. Coast Guard Reserve – End Strength: 7,000 authorized 6,300 current Resources: FY16: $110.6M FY17: $112.3M FY18 (anticipated): $114.8M Operational Readiness: 44% hold position required competencies The U.S. Coast Guard Reserve – Strategic Outlook

The U.S. Coast Guard Reserve – Concerns End strength of ~6,300 is an operational challenge Planned/actual accessions during FY14-FY16 REDUX not sufficient to maintain long-term strength Working with key stakeholders to address capacity limitations impacting our ability to return to strength Sliver lining … Attrition rates are at historic lows Enlisted (8.6%) and Officer (6.7%) however, Active Component demand remains high Need to find a way to get beyond the “symptoms” that affect the Reserve Component The U.S. Coast Guard Reserve – Strategic Outlook
