ABPH BVZA Hospital Pharmacist of Belgium Belgium is finally making transition in biosimilars’ use (epoetin, filgrastim, infliximab) 7/01/2016: gentlemen’s agreement between the Secretary of Health, professional organizations of relevant prescribers, hospitals, hospital pharmacists and the pharmaceutical industry Call from the Secretary of Health to use more biosimilars Enhancement of competition in the market of biologicals should reduce prices  more money for research in innovative therapy Working group to evaluate biosimilars’ use in hospitals (surveys) Full switch is accepted 10% less reimbursement on biologicals

ABPH BVZA Hospital Pharmacist of Belgium Therapy@Home stimulated by Government – 12 pilot projects OPAT (Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy) limited implementation due to practical and legal barriers (cost for patient, time consuming, medications not always available in public pharmacies) goal is a national OPAT guideline Oncological Therapy at Home multidisciplinary teams around the patient hospital pharmacist involved in development of protocols (medication handling), guidelines, information leaflets for the patient and caregivers, delivery of the hospital medication, in-hospital preparation of IV medication
