Portfolio Highlights Chevron pivots to Permian shale, away from mega-projects. Domino's opens 14,000th store worldwide. Salesforce (CRM) Bets Big on Japan, Opens 2nd Data Center
Portfolio Highlights Chevron CEO John Watson tells Reuters that the company is hitting the accelerator on developing its vast holdings in the Permian Basin. CVX is shelving plans for any new multi-billion dollar mega-projects, for the next few years at least, and is turning to acreage it has always controlled and that largely is free of royalties to landowners. The company's Permian production should grow by 8x to more than 700K bbl/day of oil as they boost spending by 67%. Rising petroleum needs for air travel and petrochemical production should buffer any potential drop in demand from the automobile sector.
Portfolio Highlights Domino’s shares fell 5% last week after a report warned first-quarter sales would be weak for the pizza chain. A report by M Science said the company's domestic sales growth would be "well below the rough consensus estimate." One weak spot for Domino's has been its international business, where same-store sales fell more than 1 percent below Wall Street estimates last quarter. Shares of the company increased 27.6% last year. Domino’s recently opened its 14000th outlet worldwide in Cyberjaya, Malaysia, outside of the nation's capital.
Portfolio Highlights CRM recently announced the opening of its second data center in Japan. In fourth-quarter fiscal 2017, the company witnessed 30% revenue growth in Asia Pacific, on a year-over-year basis. “Our headcount has grown 27 per cent on a compound annual growth rate the last three years across Asia Pacific, and while the company as a whole will be growing in the 20 per cent range for the foreseeable future in my opinion Asia-Pac will be leading the pack.” – CFO Mark Hawkins. CRM returned 21.4% year to date compared with the industry’s gain of 9.7%.
