Dramatic Play Dramatic play can be defined as a type of play where children accept and assign roles, and then act them out. It is a time when they break through the walls of reality, pretend to be someone or something different from themselves, and dramatize situations and actions to go along with the roles they have chosen to play.

Active play Child involved and interacting with others or objects. Refers to the type of play in which a child engages in an activity, rather than s imply watching others passively. exploration of objects and toys by the infant and toddler tothe formal games,  sports, and hobbies of the older child.

PASSIVE PLAY play in which a person does not participate actively. For younger children such activity may include watching and listening to others ,observing other children or animals, listening to stories, or looking at pictures.  Older children are passively entertained by games and toys that require concentration and intellectual skill, such as chess, reading, listening  to music, or watching television. 

Skill mastery play Play where a child is able to master abilities to a degree where they no longer have to focus on them and can focus on other things instead. If you watch a two-year old playing they aren't able to get very elaborate with their play because so much of their concentration goes into just getting that bear to walk across the rug and into the barn, whereas a five year old would just walk the bear to the barn while simultaneously telling the story to the teacher and walking a frog over to get eaten.
