Do now activity #1 Take out a new sheet of lined paper. This will be used for all DNAs for Section One. Start your DNA. You don’t have to write the question, BUT you must answer in complete sentences.

Do now activity #1 What is the difference between an atom and a molecule? How come water (H2O) is not an element? List 5 examples of the word “organism”. List 3 things made of cells.

Section 1-1: the Scientific Method Unit 1—Molecular Biology Essential Question What is the order that scientists follow when investigating a problem? Learning Targets: List the steps of the scientific method in order. Identify the steps of the scientific method within each lab. Section 1-1: the Scientific Method

There are 5 steps to the Scientific Method. overview There are 5 steps to the Scientific Method.

Don’t forget to chunk your notes!

The Scientific method The 1st step of the Scientific Method is asking a question about a problem that needs a solution.

The scientific method The 2nd step of the Scientific Method is forming a hypothesis that could possibly explain the question.

The scientific method If a hypothesis is tested over and over again, and it always true, it is considered a theory.

The scientific method By the 3rd step of the Scientific Method, an experiment is conducted to test the hypothesis.

The scientific method The 4th step of the Scientific Method requires results data to be collected from the experiment.

The scientific method Once the 5th step of the Scientific Method is reached, a conclusion is formed about the hypothesis based off the experiment’s results.

Don’t forget to chunk your notes!
