The Character of Atticus

Lessons “Sometimes it’s better to bend the law a little in special cases.” This is one of the lessons Atticus teaches his children. It prepares them for later life as he understands that they are the future of Maycomb. HOLAAAA

He teaches this lesson as growing up in a racist community for the benefit of the children.

It works this way” he said “if you concede the necessities of going to school we’ll go on reading every night just as we always have” Atticus teaches Scout this to show her that sometimes you need to do things you don’t want to in order to do things you want to. This is evident when Atticus represents Tom Robinson at the trial.

“Atticus Finch is the same in his house as he is on the public streets Here it is clearly shown that Atticus holds a sense of self worth and respect, his attitude does not change and he always maintains the same views. “It’s when you’re licked before you begin but you begin anyway.” Atticus knows he has little to no chance in the case yet due to his strong morals he takes on the case despite the abuse he may receive for defending the black man.
