Sketch Books can be collected from GA4 to complete the set tasks. Over the two year course you are going to learn product design in MORE detail, building upon your GCSE knowledge. Sketch Books can be collected from GA4 to complete the set tasks. KS5 DESIGN TECHNOLOGY. Mrs Dunn.

A Level Product Design (AQA) Learning objective: To gain understanding of the course, my expectations and the structure of the subject over the two year course. To understand product innovation & how market pull, technology push & planned obsolesce effect a products success. As a form of induction to the course I would like you to complete a short design task which will see how CRITCAL & CREATIVE you can be. Click onto the links or type into YouTube “Sinclair C5 advert”. Watch the short video of the product which was invented and available for purchasing in 1985 [32 years ago]. After the video answer the provided questions and generate a series of development drawings for if this product was re-introduced to the market as a RETRO DESIGN. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0EQetm_qWDg A Level Product Design (AQA) Mrs Dunn https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5N937V8ZOw

A Level Product Design (AQA) Learning objective: To gain understanding of the course, my expectations and the structure of the subject over the two year course. To understand product innovation & how market pull, technology push & planned obsolesce effect a products success. The Sinclair C5 is a classic example of a product, which, although it was extremely innovative, failed within a very short time of being launched. (Question) to respond to. Should the C5 have been invented? Was it INNOVATIVE for the period of time? Could it be improved? Were there clear ISSUES in the design? Can you see why it failed? Do you think this product could come back in 2017? If so why? What would it look like now? In October 1985, the Financial Times reported that the receiver put the debts of Sinclair’s C5 at £7.75 million. Nevertheless, it is interesting to speculate whether the C5 might have succeeded if it had been promoted as a golf trolley or invalid wheelchair In your exercise books I would like you to write your responses (in full sentences to those questions). A Level Product Design (AQA) Mrs Dunn

Or even SMART/MODERN MATERIALS. Learning objective: To gain understanding of the course, my expectations and the structure of the subject over the two year course. To understand product innovation & how market pull, technology push & planned obsolesce effect a products success. Your first challenge: In your sketch books I would like you to produce A SERIES of improvement sketches for the Sinclair C5. These will need to be annotated. You will have the following lesson to complete and research potential technologies which can be included (such as green technology e.g. solar power). Or even SMART/MODERN MATERIALS. A Level Product Design (AQA) Mrs Dunn Mrs Dunn

Learning objective: To gain understanding of the course, my expectations and the structure of the subject over the two year course. To understand product innovation & how market pull, technology push & planned obsolesce effect a products success. What is SCAMPER? A method designers use to generate development design ideas. Using ALL of the letters will increase creativity and your mark. Pick your favourite idea from your series of sketches and begin to develop it into a final idea using SCAMPER.
