Trip To Mexico City Info is on the Western Sierra Website and Google Classroom. $50 deposit is due by September 6th. We need a minimum of 20 people to sign up to go! (Students need to be in 10th grade or higher)

About Me My name is Paola Clark. I am half-Mexican and was raised in a bilingual household. I graduated from Whitney High School and William Jessup University. (I love Rocklin!) I love the Office and Harry Potter I love to bake

About the Class In this class, students will be expected to: be respectful to others at all times ask questions and respond when others ask participate and be engaged

Spanish Essential Standards Interpersonal Communication Presentational Speaking Presentational Writing Interpretive Listening Interpretive Reading Students will learn to create and understand intermediate oral and written sentences in the present and past tenses Students will gain knowledge of intermediate vocabulary and grammar structure in the present and past tenses

Calendar We will complete 5 units throughout the school year The units are about 4 weeks long, but if students need more time to dig in, we will take the time to do so Expect 2 assessments per unit: one project/test and one oral. Assessments: 75% Practice: 25%

Interesting Topics In Spanish 2, students enjoy: Talking about driving and their childhood Giving commands Reading a book about the folktale, “La Llorona” Learning different cultural traditions such as Day of the Dead

Success Students need: Something to take notes in (notebook, binder, etc.) Writing utensils It is important that students practice their Spanish frequently outside of class.

Study Skills Students need to practice the language daily to enhance their mastery Have your student teach you what they learned in class Students can watch familiar movies in Spanish There are many YouTube videos on various subjects that can help your student practice Repetition, repetition, repetition Students need to complete homework and other assignments I am available before/after school by appointment DuoLingo is an app students can use to practice at home
