Muthu Kumar Chandrasekaran Kokil Jaidka Philipp Mayr 3rd Joint Workshop on Bibliometric-enhanced Information Retrieval and Natural Language Processing for Digital Libraries (BIRNDL 2018) Muthu Kumar Chandrasekaran Kokil Jaidka Philipp Mayr SIGIR 2018, Ann Arbor, USA 2017-07-12 http://wing.comp.nus.edu.sg/~birndl-sigir2018/ Online Proceedings: http://ceur-ws.org/Vol-2132/ #birndl
Who we are Muthu Kumar Chandrasekaran Ingo Frommholz Kokil Jaidka Guillaume Cabanac Philipp Mayr It is a joint workshop of two interest groups Min-Yen Kan Dietmar Wolfram 1st BIRNDL workshop in 2016 at JCDL, 2nd BIRNDL in 2017 at SIGIR, CL-SciSumm Pilot task 2014 and successful BIR workshops at ECIR 2014-2018 Our interests include Bibliometrics; Information Retrieval; Digital Libraries; Natural Language Processing; Text Mining and Digital Libraries
Why is the workshop at SIGIR? Bibliometrics, information retrieval (IR), text mining and NLP techniques can help in information seeking, but are not yet widely used in digital libraries and academic search engines The goal is to stimulate IR, Bibliometrics and NLP researchers to discuss how to improve retrieval services, e.g. in DL apply insights from bibliometrics, scientometrics, and NLP to practical problems of retrieval and browsing elaborate on new approaches
