Clean air act (CAA) This is the understanding of the federal law that regulates air emissions from stationary sources and as well as mobile sources. This law approves EPA to institute National Ambient Air Quality Standards also known as (NAAQS)to protect public welfare and public health and to regulate emissions of hazardous pollutants.

Goal of the CAA The purpose of the clean air act was to place and fulfill NAAQS in all states within 1975 in order to address the public health and welfare risks posed by certain widespread air pollutants. The place of these pollutant requirements was coupled with directing the states to grow state implementation plans, relevant to appropriate industrial sources in the state in order to achieve these standards. The act was amended in 1977 and 1990 essentially to set new goals for achieving attainment of NAAQS since many areas of the country had failed to meet the deadlines.
