Adverb An Adverb is a word that modifies a verb, an adjective or another adverb. He sings sweetly. Here ‘sweetly 'is Adverb. It modifies the verb sings. He is very honest. Here ‘very’ is Adverb. It modifies the Adjective honest. He sings very sweetly. Here very and sweetly are Adverbs. Very modifies sweetly. My father is just over 60. Here just is adverb. It modifies the preposition over. The bell rang just after I had reached school. Here just is adverb. It modifies the conjunction ‘after.’ The story is very interesting. Here very is adverb. It modifies the participle ‘interesting.’ Certainly, he will come today. Here certainly is adverb. It modifies the sentence ‘he will come today.’
