Writing Workshop Writer’s Notebook Procedures and expectations Connecting reading and writing Writing strategies Writing process Peer and teacher conferences Reflection of their own writing Sharing of published writing
Workshop structure Mini-lesson - direct teaching of skills for 10 minutes. Skills grow out of analysis of student work. Work Time- Approximately 20 minutes while teachers confer with students or meet with guided reading or strategy groups. Share - restatement of teaching point or sharing of work between peers or as a full class.
Homework Extension and reinforcement of mini- lessons and leads to success with quizzes, tests, writing process pieces, and projects Written everyday in agenda pads Absences -Students have as many days as they are absent to make up any missed work
