Contact Anna Noack with questions. Absences In the event your child is absent, please call the absence line at 281-641-3019 to report the absence to school. A written excuse for each absence is required upon returning to school for the absence to be considered EXCUSED. After three consecutive absence days, a doctor’s note must be submitted. Our Grade Level’s Lunch Time: 12:15 Recess following lunch Cafeteria Breakfast Served: 7:30 – 7:55 Cafeteria closes at 7:55 am Breakfast Cost: Student $1.40/Adult $2.00 Lunch Cost: Student $2.20/Adult $3.50 Our Grade Level’s Lunch Time: 12:15 Recess following lunch Parents can bring lunch for their child only. Due to Texas Guidelines, food provided to other students is prohibited. Students may not share food due to possible food allergies. Menu Hotline: 281.641.5838 Application for free and/or reduced meals are on online this year.

Dismissal 3:20 – Dismissal Walkers/Bikers in grades 1st – 5th are students that walk out of the building and walk/bike directly home!! Kindergartner walkers/bikers will be held at the red table at the front of the school until a sibling or guardian meets them which will be notated on the orange dismissal form.. Other grade level students who are walkers/bikers are not held in any area and walk/bike directly home!! If you want to ensure your child in grades 1st – 5th is supervised in a specified location until a guardian arrives, please plan for them to be a CAR RIDER.. Your promptness in picking up your child is very important. Supervision is not available after 4:00pm.

Dismissal Locations: Car Riders: Those that live EAST of WLH Parkway (YELLOW sign) dismiss in the FRONT Those that live WEST of WLH Parkway (GREEN sign) dismiss on the CAFETERIA side. Daycare Buses/Vans/District Buses/Fast Pass: Dismiss through the Kindergarten wing doors. Bikers & Walkers: Dismiss through the front door and walk/bike home. Crosswalks: 1. Summerwood Lakes Drive 2. Cafeteria Crosswalk/Duessen 3. West lake Houston 4-Way

Campus Expectations Summerwood is a PBIS and Whole Child campus. All Summerwood Stars will: Be Responsible. Be Respectful. Be Safe.

3rd Grade Expectations Third grade students are expected to follow school and class rules. Our classroom behavior system will utilize DOJO. Students will start each week with 5 DOJO points. They can earn more points throughout the week for making good choices; however, they may lose points if they make poor choices. They can redeem points for classroom rewards or privileges. Toys are not allowed at school at anytime, including recess.

Communication at SWE Stay connected to SWE by: Accessing our Summerwood Elementary website at https://www.humbleisd.net/swe Reading our weekly newsletter, The Star Gazer – The Star Gazer is located on the home page of the Summerwood website and is sent to all parents by School Messenger on Fridays beginning on September 8 Signing up for School Messenger. We sent texts and emails through School Messenger to keep parents informed with the most up-to-date information and communicate emergency information. .Downloading the Humble Independent School District App (available on the App Store) Reading our school marquee located on the side of SWE for quick reminders. A Note from PE •      If your child is to be excused from participation due to illness or injury, they will need a parent note. If they are to be excused for more than three days, a doctor’s note is required according to district policy. Please advise your child to give all notes to their homeroom teacher or the school nurse. Also, if a child has a note and is excused from PE they are not allowed to participate in recess.      Wear tennis shoes on your PE days. Schedule will be sent by teacher.      Grading for PE will be run by a point system.   PE Grade: 0-3=E, 4-6=S, 7-10=N, 11+=U    Grades will be given for participation and conduct.

News to Know About 3rd Grade Please send a note with your student or send an email before 2:30 if there is a change in dismissal, otherwise please contact the front office. 281-641-3000. Students will be allowed to bring a healthy snack and water bottle in the classroom. (3 C’s rule- no candy, no cookies, no chips) If you have any concerns please call me immediately so I can proactively help you solve the problem.
